Today, the water was so clear it made every cast a true challenge. But that didn’t stop my client Mark and his wife, visiting from New York 🇺🇸.
At 75, with an inspiring focus and desire to learn, Mark presented his fly perfectly. The result? A stunning marble trout, one of the queens of our rivers.

Sometimes, all the stars align for a perfect day on the water.
Low pressure, overcast skies, and a few drops of rain… the conditions every fly angler dreams of. Today, on the Isarco River here in Alto Adige, my client Jay from Florida 🇺🇸 got to experience one of those magical days.
The trout were active and the bites were consistent, leading to numerous beautiful catches. But for me, the real reward is seeing the pure satisfaction on a client’s face. That’s the heart of what I do.

And the reward? An abundance of wild, jewel-like brown trout, each one a perfect specimen of its environment. The joy of connecting with these beautiful fish in such wild places is just as fulfilling, if not more, than any battle in a larger river.
It’s a beautiful lesson that Jack and I were happy to be reminded of today in the heart of Alto Adige.
