Experience fly fishing Tinne Stream in South Tyrol. Start in medieval Chiusa and hike into wild waters. Dry fly fishing for wild Brown Trout.

Fly fishing Tinne Stream offers a transition so dramatic it feels like magic. Located at the confluence with the Isarco River, this gem starts its journey flowing through the historic town of Chiusa (Klausen), one of the “Most Beautiful Villages in Italy.” Within just a few hundred meters of wading upstream, the medieval walls and church spires disappear, replaced by a rugged, untouched wilderness. It is an instant escape from civilization into a lush, green canyon.

The Target: Wild Brown Trout Gems

The Tinne is not about chasing river monsters; it is about appreciating nature’s perfection. The stream is teeming with Wild Brown Trout. While they are generally medium-sized, these fish are stunningly beautiful, with vivid red spots and perfect fins. They are wild, cunning, and fight hard in the fast current. For the purist who values the beauty of the catch over sheer size, the Tinne is a masterpiece.

Technique: A Dry Fly Paradise

The crystal-clear water and structure make this stream a dream for dry fly fishing. The trout here look up. You will be fishing “pocket water”—casting buoyant dry flies into the small calm spots behind boulders and along foam lines. It requires stealth and precision casting rather than distance. Watching a wild trout rise to your fly in such an intimate, wild setting is an adrenaline rush for any angler.

Logistics: The Ultimate Accessible Escape

This is the most accessible wilderness experience in South Tyrol. You can park your car in the town center and be fishing in minutes. This makes fly fishing Tinne Stream the perfect option for a half-day adventure or for those traveling with non-anglers. While you disappear into the wild canyon, your family can enjoy a cappuccino, visit the monastery, or shop in the charming streets of Chiusa, just minutes away.
